Had a couple of long sessions trying out the various WordPress posting and page features and the specific options available with the Twenty Twelve theme I have decided to run with.  Think I’m starting to get the hang of it all, and will now focus on creating some content over the next week.  Please ignore any junk postings, these will get deleted in due course.
